travel north america united states utah zion national park
Returning to southern Utah every October for the Huntsman World Senior Games has given us the extra reward of multiple visits to nearby Zion National Park.
The scale of this park is friendlier and offers the visitor a larger variety of intimate experiences than the almost over-whelming grandeur of the Grand Canyon.
The main Virgin River canyon of Zion provides comfortable access to a large number of trails from level and "easy" to straight-up "expert" hikes.
Some of my favorites are hiking the Narrows and driving up the Zion - Mt. Carmel highway to what I call the "high badlands.
